Brain Mapping Assessment
Recommended neurofeedback training is based on the observations of patterns of dysregulation. This is a highly customized process for each client based upon the individual brain pattern. There is no “one size fits all” solution.
The brain is a complex organ and it produces different brain waves of different frequencies when we are engaged in various activities. Classically there are four frequency ranges, the “Delta, Theta, Alpha, and Beta” bands. During a neurofeedback training session, the individual will be hooked up to advanced equipment capable of discerning brainwave changes in real time. When the equipment recognizes a properly regulated signal the trainee receives a positive reward such as a movie playing. When the signal is not properly regulated there is no reward. In this way, subconsciously, through feedback the brain begins to learn how to restore regulation such as being able to pay better attention or to properly regulate one’s emotions.
With this accumulated learning over the time, the brain learns to produce more regularly normal waveforms with a resulting diminishing of the presenting concerns.
In short, through neurofeedback, we train ourselves out of dysregulation.
